After two years of speech therapy, he is getting better but not at his age level. It seemed a good time to follow up with audiology and EENT, especially as we knew the tone he had put in at 18 months were long out. Based on all this, it appears his hearing loss on the left is purely due to middle ear problems, not nerve damage.

Your goal should be mastery, not competency. The art or technique of medicine that is required for the situation at hand. The fourth educational goal is the one that I think is crucially important, because this is the only rotation where you have this opportunity.
